Any tips for a kid switching from acoustic to electric guitar?
I have played acoustic for a year and a half, and just ordered my new Fender Stratocaster after lots of saving up!!!! I've never played electric so does anyone have tips for me??? Thank you God Bless.
I was once told to learn to play things on an acoustic guitar first, then try and playing it on an electric and it'll seem a whole lot easier! Just start with a nice clean setting on your amplifier, it is tempting to go crazy with distortion but you won't be able to hear what notes you are playing clearly. I would also recommend purchasing an electric guitar beginner's book - it'll have lots of great exercises for enhancing your technique. As others have said, there isn't a huge difference between acoustic and electric - the action (the distance between the strings and the fretboard and the pressure required to push the strings down) is smaller on an electric.
