Tube Guitar Head
Can you run a bass through a Guitar Tube Head?
I've heard all these running basses through guitar amps and such, but can a Guitar Tube head handle the lows of a bass? I have a Sunn O))) Model T. I wanted to play it through my bass amp, but I just want to make sure if the tubes can handle those kind of lows?
You absolutely can play bass through a guitar amp head. It's almost impossible to kill tubes by the signal you feed them. On most amps, the only difference between the bass and guitar versions is in the eq circuit (mid, bass, treble controls). In fact, I have a Sunn Beta Lead, and the only difference between it and the bass version is one capacitor and the reverb circuit. I play bass through it all the time.
Now, on most Marshall amps, lower frequencies are cut off, so you won't get the full range if you play a bass through it. There may be other amps that do that as well.
Of course, make sure that your speaker cabinet is made to handle bass. You can blow out a perfectly good set of guitar speakers by playing bass through them.
